About Anne Jones

Anne Jones has won the World Speed Reading championship six times. She has made numerous TV and radio appearances (including c-BBC's Newsround featuring her work with a team of Burleigh Community College youngsters, BBC's The Daily Politics, Sky News and BBC Radio 2 Chris Evans' Drivetime). Anne set a new speed reading record reading Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows and reviewed the book for Sky News and various newspapers, including the Independent on Sunday.

While a teacher, Anne became interested in Mind Mapping as a method of accelerating learning. She introduced it at Regent College, where she worked, by means of the World's Largest Mind Map. Students and staff created a huge Mind Map about the city of Leicester. Anne organised Mind Map competitions and exhibitions and started a Brain Club, where students met at lunchtimes to play chess and other mind sports. When the first Mind Sports Olympiad was announced, Anne obtained sponsorship for the students to take part. One of the students, Vina, kept asking Anne why she wasn't competing. Deciding to set a good example by taking part, Anne entered the Speed Reading competition, winning the first of her seven gold medals.

Success in speed reading competitions led to requests to speak about speed reading and for training courses. Anne is now the UK's best known speed reader and travels internationally to train clients in speed reading. Anne works with a wide range of clients, including Cancer Research scientists, lawyers, teachers, accountants, post graduates, undergraduates and college students.

Anne used her speed reading skills to accelerate the research for her children's book, Knights' Quest (published under her family name A.L. Williams). The photograph on this page shows Anne with illustrator Sylvia Lynch, at Alnwick Castle on the day of the book launch.
